Cooler, wet weather is on the way for Maine, but the 70s are on the horizon

PORTLAND (WGME) –– The cool, wet weather will continue in Maine for another four days. However, warm, sunny weather is on the horizon for early next week, so stay tuned!

Thursday won't be nice. Temperatures will be unlikely to rise above 50° in many places, and we will see a round of rain in the morning, a lull in the midday, and a round of rain in the late afternoon and evening. Some thunderstorms are also possible today.

Things are looking a little better on Friday, at least it will stay dry. It will be mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s, some afternoon sunshine possible.

Saturday looks similar to Friday, although slightly cooler with more sea breeze. Highs will be in the mid-50s on the coast, around 60 inland, with a touch of sun or two in the afternoon.

Sunday looks cool and wet again. It will be difficult to get high temperatures above 50 degrees and there will be intermittent showers throughout the day.

Monday brings a dramatic change to MUCH nicer weather.

It looks fantastic with highs in the low to mid 70s and sunny skies in the afternoon.

Tuesday brings more of the same. Sunshine and 70s will prevail throughout the day, with temperatures slightly warmer away from the coast as a sea breeze may pick up late in the day.

Unfortunately, cool, wet weather returns next Wednesday. Let it soak early next week!
